We made an offer on a house...and other news

About a week ago we made an offer on a house in Severance (which is about 7 miles from my work in Windsor and maybe 10-15 miles east of Fort Collins). It is brand new, construction was finished back in October. I can't believe the price, something like this in Portland would be $350,000-$400,000! Our offer was $197,850, we signed a 90 day contingency offer (contingent on our house in Portland selling). If we can't close on our house within that 90 day period, we get our earnest money back and go look for the next one I guess, but I am sure the house will sell in another month...or so...
We will try to get some pictures of it this weekend. The address is 511 Aspen Grove Way, Severance CO but on Google maps it is just a dirt lot, maybe google earth has a more recent view.

Work is going well, still a little slow but the company has a ton of work lined up so I am sure I will be busy in the next couple of weeks. It is great to have "wet Wednesdays" or "thirsty Thursdays" where we just sit around and talk about stuff (work projects or just life) while drinking a local brew.

Jamie has started looking for jobs, she has applied at 4 or 5 different medical offices in the area. She even applied at a pre-school. Of course we haven't heard back from any of them yet. I think she is getting a little board with hanging out with Hooch and Winston all day, we need to make some friends.

We have started going to a small group through one of the churches that we visited (PEAK Community Church). We are going through a book called "They Like Jesus, but Not the Church". There are about 6 or 7 other couples that are all "recently" married. Hopefully we can start hanging out with some of those folks, they are all very nice.

That is about it for now, look for more pictures soon!

Will Farrell "The Landlord"

If you aren't offended by talking drunk babies, you MUST go to this website and check out some of Will Farrell's greatest work. Calista, you will love this.

The Animals

Hooch and Winston did great in the car. We would let Winston out to roam around for a bit, then he would climb back in his box and just take a nap.

Hooch hung out in the back and took in all of the scenery, he also had a great time running around in all of the snow on the way there.

They both are adjusting to apartment life pretty well. Winston loves taking naps in the sun (something he couldn't truly appreciate until moving to Colorado).

The first couple of nights Hooch would do his soft "alert" bark at every little noise, and let me tell you, there were tons! A big difference going from a nice quite house to an apartment with people on all sides.

Moving Day

The last good bye with Officer Byrd. And for those single ladies in Portland, remember to be safe tonight...

and sleep with a cop!

We loaded up the truck and said some sad goodbyes, and then we were off.

We didn't get too far before we hit the bad weather! But the good thing about going 40-50 mph for most of the way is that our CR-V got 34mpg at one point...amazing!

And then the really bad weather in Idaho! There were times when we had to go 20 mph and could still barely see 20ft in front of us. Who's dumb idea was it move in the middle of winter anyways?

But we finally made it to sunny Colorado! It only took a couple of extra days and a few extra bucks, but at least we stayed on all four wheels (unlike another Uhaul driver that we saw in Wyoming).

We made it to Colorado!

After five long days on the road we finally made it to Fort Collins. We left Saturday afternoon and got a wopping 17 miles out of Portland before we hit our first road closuer. I-84 was closed for the rest of the day due to ice, snow and accidents at the Troutdale exit. It opened in the AM and we set out on a 12 hour drive to Fruitland, ID just accross the ID boarder. Lots of snow and lots of 35-40 mph driving. But we made it safe and sound so that is what counts. The next day we set out for Pocatello ID, that only took about 5 or 6 hours, good roads too. That night several roads were closed, so we stayed the night with my grandmother and headed out early in the AM. We made it to Rock Springs WY before we ran into another road closure. Another night in a hotel with the cat and the dog! Luckily it opend the next morning and we made it out of WY alive! We arrived in Fort Collins on Wednesday afternoon, two days later than we had hoped, but at least we made it in one piece (unlike another U-haul drive we passed who was flipped on its side in the middle of I-80). Our appartment is okay, but it is a good thing it is only temporary. I can't imagine going back to apartment living after 2+ years in a house. We have lots of pics so I will post them as soon as we get the internet up and running at our appartment. We are hanging out at the library right now.

As I said, more updates to come. Special thanks to my mom and dad for going through that great traveling experience with us, and for putting up with the dog and cat along the way.
